CardVault Privacy Policy

Developer: Qygen Labs  •  Effective Date: March 5, 2026

⚡ Plain-Language Summary

CardVault is built with a strict local-first architecture. Your business card photos, scanned contact details, notes, and records live entirely on your device in a local database. We do not run cloud servers, user accounts, or tracking databases for your cards. Scanning is processed 100% on-device using local machine learning.

1. Information We Do Not Collect (Local-First Guarantee)

CardVault is designed so that your personal data and scanned business cards remain under your personal control. Specifically:

  • No Business Card Data Transmission: Photos you snap or import, extracted text, contacts, emails, phone numbers, addresses, and custom tags are stored locally in an SQLite database on your device. They are never transmitted to Qygen Labs or any external servers.
  • No User Accounts: CardVault requires no registration, username, email sign-up, or login.
  • On-Device Machine Learning (OCR): Text extraction from business cards is performed locally on your device via Google ML Kit on-device libraries. Your images are never sent over the internet for processing.

2. Information Collected by Third-Party Services (Advertising)

CardVault is an ad-supported application. To support ongoing development, the app integrates Google AdMob (provided by Google LLC). Google AdMob is the only component of CardVault that communicates over the network.

Google AdMob may collect and process certain technical data to serve advertisements and prevent fraud, including:

  • Device Advertising Identifier (e.g., Android Advertising ID)
  • IP Address and approximate geographic location (country or city level)
  • Device technical metrics (device model, operating system version, screen resolution)
  • Ad performance data and interaction statistics (impressions, clicks)

AdMob processes this data independently under Google's Privacy Policy. Google AdMob has no access to your saved business cards or scanned contacts. For further details on how Google uses data, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy and Google AdMob Policies.

3. Device Permissions & Usage

To provide core business card scanning features, CardVault requests the following Android device permissions:

  • Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Required strictly when you capture a photo of a business card within the app for optical character recognition.
  • Storage / Media Access (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / Media Library): Required to select existing business card photos from your gallery, save cropped card images, export records to Excel (.xlsx) / CSV files, and restore database backup files (.cardscan).

Each permission is requested in context and used solely for the specific user action initiated.

4. Data Retention & User Data Deletion

Because all card data is stored exclusively on your device:

  • Manual Deletion: You can delete any individual business card or perform a complete data wipe in CardVault Settings at any time. Deleted cards are permanently erased from local storage immediately.
  • App Uninstallation: Uninstalling CardVault automatically removes the local SQLite database and all associated local app files.
  • No Remote Data Retention: Qygen Labs retains zero customer card data or personal records on any server. Consequently, there is no server-side user data to request deletion of.

5. Data Security

CardVault relies on Android's built-in sandbox security model to protect your local database. Backup files (.cardscan, .xlsx, .csv) exported by you to external storage or third-party storage apps (such as Google Drive or email) are governed by the security of your chosen storage destination.

6. Children's Privacy

CardVault is a business utility intended for adults and working professionals. It does not knowingly solicit or collect data from children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions).

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect app updates or legal requirement shifts. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Effective Date" at the top.
